The Johnson Creek Regulators are affiliated with the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS). SASS is an international organization formed in 1987 to preserve and promote the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting ™. We also work closely with the Michigan Cowboy Action Shooting™ organization, the Wolverine Rangers.
Cowboy Action Shooting™ is a multi-faceted shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West: single action revolvers, pistol caliber lever action rifles, and old-time shotguns.
We dress in authentic cowboy and Old West clothing for our matches. The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized, “Old West” style. It is a timed sport in which shooters compete for prestige on a course of different shooting stages and scenarios. Each scenario features an array of situations, many based on famous incidents or Western movie scenes- in which the shooters test their mettle utilizing all four firearms in a designated order and challenge, against steel targets.

If you’re looking for a unique and exciting way to experience the flavor of the Old West, then SASS is the place for you. You’ll meet some of the friendliest folks around and make memories that’ll last a lifetime. Whether you are a seasoned shooter or a newcomer, SASS has a place for everyone.
WWCCA Cowboy Action shoots are open to club members and non-members alike.
We shoot once a month on the 200-yard range unless noted otherwise. See our schedule for shoots below. We have 5 stages set up for each match. Visitors are welcome to watch (eye and ear protection are required). After the match we keep a stage open so new folks can strap on the shootin’ irons and give it a whirl! We even have open practices for all before our club meetings from April – October.
